Qatar Emir Congratulates Bangladesh President Mirza Fakhrul

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has congratulated Bangladesh's newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming office, expressing hope for stronger ties between the two countries.

The congratulatory message was conveyed on Saturday (August 22), through the Amiri Diwan, the administrative office of the Qatari emir.

In the message, Sheikh Tamim congratulated Mirza Fakhrul on taking the oath as Bangladesh's president and wished him success in carrying out his responsibilities. He also expressed hope that bilateral relations between Qatar and Bangladesh would continue to deepen and expand.

Mirza Fakhrul was sworn in as Bangladesh's 23rd president at Bangabhaban on Friday evening. He formally began his duties at the presidential residence on Sunday, where he was accorded a ceremonial welcome and a guard of honour by members of the armed forces.

Mirza Fakhrul was elected president with 255 votes in a parliamentary election held on August 20. It was the first presidential election by parliamentary vote in 35 years.
