RAB recovers looted tear gas shells, revolver from Demra, Kadamtali
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) has recovered four tear gas grenades, a revolver and two magazines that were looted from police in separate operations in Demra and Kadamtali areas of the capital.
Rab said the arms and ammunition were recovered from abandoned locations during operations conducted late on Tuesday (July 28) night.
Rab-10 Assistant Director (Media) Tapon Sarkar said based on a tip-off, an operation was conducted at 12:05am in a jungle area adjacent to Afaz Uddin Road in Mallikpara under Demra Police Station, where four unexploded tear gas grenades were recovered from an abandoned state.
Later, around 1:30am, another operation was conducted in an abandoned room on the second floor of a house in the Juraine Baganbari Nabhinbag area under Kadamtali Police Station, where a revolver and two magazines were recovered.
According to Rab, these are part of the arms and ammunition looted during attacks on various police stations during the July uprising on August 5, 2024. The government is conducting operations with special emphasis on recovering these weapons, as there are concerns they could be used in terrorist activities.
The recovered tear gas shells, revolver and magazines have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal action.
