The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has strengthened security across the country to ensure peaceful and uninterrupted Janmashtami celebrations, deploying additional personnel at temples, puja venues and other key locations.

In a press release on Friday (September 4), RAB said additional forces had been deployed at important temples, religious venues, event sites and sensitive areas, while regular patrols and plainclothes intelligence operations had also been intensified.

Each RAB battalion has drawn up separate security plans based on potential risks in its area, the force said.

RAB said intelligence gathering and surveillance had been increased to identify potential threats and prevent extremist groups, banned organisations or other actors from carrying out sabotage or creating disorder during the celebrations.

Special security arrangements have also been made for prominent guests, religious leaders, priests and foreign nationals attending Janmashtami events. Security has been reinforced along processions, with RAB personnel deployed at the front, rear and both sides of the routes.

A reserve force has been kept ready to respond quickly to any emergency, according to the statement.

RAB urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious person, object or activity to the nearest security personnel.

The force has also stepped up monitoring of social media to detect and prevent the spread of provocative posts, comments, images and other content that could undermine communal harmony or create tension during the festival.
