Rabindranath's graffiti vandalism: 4 remanded in sedition case

Police have shown four people arrested in a case filed on charges of anti-state activities over the incident of pouring ink on the graffiti of world poet Rabindranath Tagore on the wall in front of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha of the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the matter on Sunday, October 11.

The arrested are A N M Ayash (29), Md Sakibul Hasan (19), Md Sujon Mia (18) and Marzia Khondkar Rimi (27).

DC Sheikh Zahidul Islam said a case has been filed over the incident on charges of anti-state activities. They have been shown arrested in that case.

He said the case mentions matters of anti-state activities, attempts to hurt religious harmony and provocative statements.

Shahbagh Police Station police filed the case as complainant.

Earlier, Shahbagh Police Station police detained them in the incident on Saturday, October 10.
