Railway warns against black market for train tickets
The Bangladesh Railway has issued a warning about fraudsters attempting to sell train tickets on the black market through social media.
A press release signed by Rezaul Karim Siddique, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Railways, provided this information on Sunday.
The release said, "Bangladesh Railway has made arrangements for the online sale of all intercity train tickets through the Rail Service app. However, it has been recently noticed that organized groups are opening accounts, groups, and pages on various social media platforms, promoting flashy advertisements to sell tickets on the black market. Complaints are being received daily that many passengers are being deceived."
It further mentioned, "The Ministry of Railways urges the public not to be deceived by purchasing tickets through social media. Legal action is being taken against those involved in the black market ticket sales."
To prevent passenger harassment and fraud related to black market ticket sales, the Ministry of Railways requested everyone to purchase tickets through the Rail Service app or directly from the railway station ticket counters.
