Rain forecast across the country, temperature may drop

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of rain or thunder showers in all eight divisions of the country. Moderate heavy rainfall may also occur in some places. At the same time, day and night temperatures across the country may drop slightly today.

In the forecast for the next 24 hours from 6pm on Friday it has been said that light to moderate rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty wind may occur in many places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. There is also a possibility of moderate heavy rainfall in some places of the country.

In the next 24 hours from 6pm on Saturday, light to moderate rain or thunder showers with gusty wind may occur in many places of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions and in some places of Chattogram division. Moderate heavy rainfall may occur in some places. On this day day and night temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department informed that the highest 82 millimetres of rainfall in the last 24 hours has been recorded in Tetulia. In the same period the highest temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajarhat and the lowest temperature of 23.7 degrees Celsius in Tetulia.

The weather forecast further said that the low pressure area which was over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining area is currently located over the north-west and west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coastal area. The extended part of the axis of monsoon wind is extended up to Assam through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, the centre of the low pressure, Gangetic West Bengal and the southern region of Bangladesh.

The monsoon wind is moderately active over Bangladesh and in a strong condition over the north Bay of Bengal. Under its influence the tendency of rain and thunder showers may continue in different areas of the country for the next two days.
