Rain likely across country, heavy downpours to hit three divisions
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers across the country through Monday evening (August 3), warning of moderate to very heavy rainfall in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions as the monsoon remains active.
According to the latest forecast issued on Monday (August 3), light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
The weather office said isolated areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet could experience moderate to very heavy rainfall during the period. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The forecast, signed by meteorologist Md Hafizur Rahman on behalf of the deputy director of the BMD, said the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and remains in a moderate state over the North Bay of Bengal.
It further said that the rain-bearing weather pattern is expected to persist on Tuesday, with many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds.
The BMD also warned of moderate to heavy rainfall at places across the country on Tuesday, while temperatures are likely to fall slightly during both the day and night.
