Rain, thunderstorms likely across country for four more days

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across parts of the country for four consecutive days from Thursday through Sunday, with some areas likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

From 6pm Thursday to 6pm Friday, rain is expected in most areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions, while many parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may also see showers.

Some areas could receive moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall, it said.

On Friday, rain is likely at a few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, with isolated showers possible in Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet. Some areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall.

On Saturday, temporary gusty winds accompanied by light to moderate rain or thunderstorms may occur at one or two places in each of the eight divisions. Daytime temperatures across the country may rise by 1-2°C.

Rain may continue in parts of the country on Sunday, with daytime temperatures expected to rise slightly. Nighttime temperatures may also increase by 1-2°C.

The weather office has advised people to exercise caution during thunderstorms and gusty winds, particularly avoiding open areas, trees and other potentially hazardous locations during lightning activity.
