Rain, thunderstorms likely across country over next 24 hours

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds in parts of the country over the next 24 hours from 9am today.

According to a weather bulletin issued this morning (August 28), many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience rain or thundershowers.

A few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may also see rain or thundershowers, while isolated areas across the country could receive moderately heavy rainfall, the bulletin said.

The weather office recorded the country's highest temperature at 37°C in Rajshahi on Wednesday. Sylhet recorded the lowest temperature at 24.2°C on Thursday.

During the 24 hours to 6am Thursday, Nikli in Kishoreganj received the highest rainfall in the country, measuring 47mm.

In Dhaka, sunset is expected at 6:21pm Thursday, while sunrise on Friday is scheduled for 5:39am.
