Rain, thunderstorms likely in Dhaka by afternoon

Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to hit Dhaka and surrounding areas by Friday afternoon, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The forecast, valid for six hours from 7:00am Friday (September 11), said skies over the capital may remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast, with daytime temperatures likely to rise slightly.

Southerly to south-easterly winds are expected to blow at 8-12 kilometres per hour.

Dhaka recorded 28°C at 6:00am, with relative humidity at 91 percent. The day’s minimum temperature was 27.7°C, while Thursday’s maximum reached 35.6°C. The capital received 3mm of rain in the previous 24 hours.

Sunset is expected at 6:07pm Friday, while sunrise on Saturday is scheduled for 5:44am.
