Rain with gusty winds likely in 7 districts by afternoon

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds of up to 60 kmph in seven districts by 1pm Wednesday (September 23).

The affected areas are Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar, according to an inland river port weather warning valid until 1pm.

Winds of 45–60 kmph may blow temporarily from the west or northwest in the areas, prompting the BMD to advise inland river ports to hoist cautionary signal No. 1.

The BMD’s 24-hour forecast issued Tuesday evening said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds may occur at many places in Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions.

Moderately heavy to heavy rain may occur at isolated places, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, the mild heat wave affecting Rangpur, Dinajpur and Saidpur is likely to ease, while day and night temperatures may fall slightly across the country.
