Rain with thunderstorms likely in Dhaka, nearby areas by noon

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted that rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are likely to occur in Dhaka and its adjoining areas by noon today.

In a forecast issued at 7:00am on Friday (March 20), the weather office said wind speeds in some areas may reach up to 60 km/h during thunderstorms.

Day temperatures in the capital are expected to remain nearly unchanged. At 6:00am, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius with humidity around 88 per cent.

The forecast added that skies over Dhaka and surrounding areas may remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast until noon. Light to moderate winds from the south or southwest, with speeds of 10–15 km/h, are also expected.

The department further warned of occasional gusty winds ranging between 40 and 50 km/h in some areas.
