Rainy storm likely on Eid day, may disrupt prayers
The Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT) has warned of possible storms and rainfall across the country around Eid-ul-Fitr, raising concerns about outdoor prayers.
According to the agency, severe weather could affect several regions from the day before Eid through the following three days. Strong pre-monsoon thunderstorms (Kalboishakhi) are expected, particularly on Eid day, which may disrupt prayers held in open fields or Eidgahs.
The forecast highlights northern and northwestern districts as likely entry points for the storm on the night before Eid. Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions could experience heavy rain and gusty winds during the Eid prayers, potentially affecting large outdoor gatherings.
The storm is expected to move from Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions in the morning toward Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet by midday, and may reach Chattogram in the afternoon.
A second round of rainfall and thunderstorms could occur in various regions later in the day.
While conditions may improve slightly the day after Eid, early morning showers are possible along coastal areas, though most inland regions are expected to see normal weather during the day.
Authorities have urged worshippers and the public to monitor local forecasts and take necessary precautions for outdoor activities on Eid.
