Rajshahi gets new divisional commissioner, three districts new DCs

The government has appointed a new divisional commissioner for Rajshahi and new deputy commissioners (DCs) for Natore, Gaibandha and Rangpur as part of a fresh reshuffle in the field administration.

The Ministry of Public Administration announced the appointments through separate notifications issued on Wednesday night (August 19).

According to the notifications, Additional Secretary Md Yusuf Ali, currently a member-director of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation, has been appointed as the new Rajshahi divisional commissioner. He will replace Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid.

Mosuma Sumoni Akter, deputy secretary at the Posts and Telecommunications Division, has been appointed DC of Natore. Dr Md Moniruzzaman, private secretary to the minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, has been named DC of Gaibandha.

Israt Jahan, deputy secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, will take charge as the new DC of Rangpur.

The latest appointments follow the withdrawal of the outgoing officials from their respective posts. On Tuesday night, Dr A N M Bazlur Rashid was attached to the Ministry of Public Administration for further posting. Natore DC Asma Shaheen, Gaibandha DC Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla and Rangpur DC Mohammad Ruhul Amin were also withdrawn and attached to the ministry.

The ministry instructed the newly appointed officials to assume their respective responsibilities.

The appointments mark a change in the field-level administrative leadership across Rajshahi division and the three districts. The new officials will oversee government policy implementation, administrative coordination and public service delivery in their respective areas.
