Ramadan office, court, and bank timings take effect from today
Government offices, courts, banks, and financial institutions across the country will operate under revised schedules from today (February 19) for the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the notification publihsed on February 8 by the Ministry of Public Administration, during Ramadan, offices of government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous organizations will remain open Sunday to Thursday from 9:00am to 3:30pm, with a 15-minute break from 1:15pm to 1:30pm for Zuhr prayers. Fridays and Saturdays remain weekly holidays.
According to Bangladesh Bank guidelines, customer transactions at banks will be conducted from 9:30am to 2:30pm, while official banking operations will continue until 4:00pm. Financial institutions will operate from 9:30am to 4:00pm, with a 15-minute prayer break from 1:15pm to 1:30pm; internal coordination may allow transaction services to continue during the break.
Judicial activities in courts will run from 9:30am to 3:00pm, with office operations following the same schedule. Court premises will also observe a 15-minute Zuhr prayer break at 1:15pm.
Other services, including postal services, railways, hospitals, state-owned industries, and emergency service providers, will follow schedules as per their operational requirements, the ministry added.
The new timings will remain in effect throughout the month of Ramadan.
