Ramisa murder case: Forensic reports handed to investigation officer
The DNA, autopsy and viscera reports in the case of the rape and murder of child Ramisa in Pallabi have been received by the investigation officer, according to the Criminal Investigation Department.
Sub-Inspector Ahiduzzaman Bhuiyan Nipun of Pallabi Police Station collected these important reports from the CID's forensic unit on Saturday, May 23.
CID Special Superintendent of Police (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan said the necessary DNA, autopsy and viscera reports have already been handed over to the investigation officer.
With all forensic reports now in hand, the investigation is nearly complete. Work on preparing the charge sheet is underway, and if everything goes as planned, it may be submitted to court on Sunday, May 24.
The child's headless body was recovered from under a bed in a flat in Pallabi, Mirpur, on the morning of May 19. Her severed head was later recovered from the bathroom.
The incident sparked widespread outrage in the area. A murder case was promptly filed at Pallabi Police Station.
In initial investigations, police detained the wife of the main accused, Sohail Rana, named Swapna Akter. Sohail Rana was later arrested.
In his confessional statement before the court, Sohail Rana admitted to raping and then murdering the child by slitting her throat.
With the forensic reports now in hand, a key phase of the investigation is nearly complete. According to experts, the DNA and viscera reports will serve as crucial evidence in preparing the final charge sheet.
