Ramisa murder: Law minister orders to submit probe report within 7 days
Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman has directed the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner to submit an investigation report within the next week on the brutal murder of seven-year-old Ramisa after her rape in the capital's Pallabi. The directive was announced in a press release by the Law Ministry on Thursday (May 21).
In the release, the Law Minister said that the government will take appropriate initiatives to complete the trial of this sensational murder as soon as possible. Necessary legal steps will be taken immediately after receiving the investigation report to bring the criminals to justice quickly.
Earlier, on Tuesday (May 19) morning, the police recovered the body of Ramisa, a second-grade student, from an apartment in Pallabi Section-11 area. On the same day, the child's father, Abdul Hannan Mollah, filed a case with Pallabi Police Station as the plaintiff. Sohel Rana, the tenant of the flat next to Ramisa, his wife Swapna Akhter and an unidentified person were named as accused in the case.
Soon after the murder, the police arrested Swapna Akhter. The main accused Sohel Rana initially went into hiding, but the police also arrested him that evening.
