The father of Ramisa, the eight-year-old child who was brutally raped and murdered in Pallabi, has expressed hope for a fair trial after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman assured him of justice.

Abdul Hannan Molla spoke to journalists after visiting his daughter's grave at the family cemetery adjacent to the Baitul Aman Jame Mosque in the Shialdi area of Sirajdikhan's Ichhapur union on Friday afternoon, May 22.

"The prime minister told me, 'As a father of a daughter and as an elder brother, I have come here,'" Hannan Molla said. "I have full faith in his words. I believe I will get justice for my daughter's murder. I will get a fair and speedy trial."

He said, "Under Bangladesh's constitutional law, I expect the maximum punishment for the killer. The prime minister has instructed the law minister to ensure the maximum punishment under Bangladesh's law."

Earlier, a prayer was held at the mosque for Ramisa, attended by Munshiganj-1 MP Md Abdullah, along with BNP leaders, activists and locals.

Ramisa Akter, 8, was brutally raped and murdered in Pallabi, Mirpur, on May 19. The main accused, Sohail Rana, 34, has been arrested.
