Ramisa’s father meets attorney general

Abdul Hannan Molla, father of child Ramisa Akhtar who was raped and murdered in Mirpur of the capital, has met Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kajol.

The meeting was held at the Attorney General’s office of the Supreme Court at noon on Saturday (September 26).

It has been learnt that the child Ramisa Akhtar murder case is currently awaiting death reference and appeal hearing in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court. Ramisa’s father met the attorney general to know about the progress of the case.

During the meeting the attorney general assured Ramisa’s father that the current government is by their side and the Attorney General’s office will play an effective role to ensure justice.

Class two student Ramisa Akhtar was raped and killed in a flat beside her own building in Section-11 area of Pallabi in Dhaka on May 19. Ramisa’s father Abdul Hannan Molla filed a case as the plaintiff with Pallabi Police Station over the incident.

Neighbour Sohel Rana was arrested on the day of the incident. Later he gave a confessional statement in court. Afterwards on June 7 a Dhaka court in the speedy trial process sentenced the main accused Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Khatun to death.

The case is currently awaiting hearing in the higher court.
