Rashed Khan, political assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, expressed anger over reports published by daily *Amar Desh* by tearing up a copy of the newspaper during a Facebook Live session.

In a video posted on his Facebook account on Saturday night (October 31), Khan criticised several reports published by the newspaper and voiced his objections.

In the video, Khan alleged that two reports about him were intended to damage his reputation. He said an article published on October 15 under the headline “What Are the Prime Minister’s Advisers and Assistants Doing?” contained objectionable remarks about him.

Khan said the article, published on page five, mentioned that he had recently been speaking in favour of the government on television talk shows and social media. He claimed the report had been published solely to include two lines about him.

He also objected to another report titled “Hasina’s Son Joy and Some New BNP Members Have Joined Hands”. Khan alleged that the newspaper was trying to link him to the Awami League despite his joining the BNP. He further claimed that publishing a photograph of him with former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, was an attempt to label him as an Awami League supporter.

Khan also spoke about allegations that Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mia Golam Parwar had held a meeting with a senior Indian intelligence official. He claimed he had challenged Jamaat to verify the accuracy of his remarks on the matter, but the party had not accepted the challenge. He said he was willing to cooperate if Jamaat formed an inquiry committee and sought information from him.

Recalling his former respect for *Amar Desh* editor Mahmudur Rahman, Khan said Rahman had also faced persecution under the Awami League government. Referring to his own arrest and alleged torture in remand in 2018 while leading the quota reform movement, he said it was unacceptable to label someone like him in this manner.

Khan strongly condemned and protested against the reports, describing them as motivated. However, the newspaper's response to the allegations raised by him was not available in this report.
