Rashed Khan takes charge as PM's political assistant

Rashed Khan, a BNP leader, has formally assumed his duties after being appointed as the Prime Minister's Political Assistant with the rank of secretary on a contractual basis.

He took charge on Tuesday (July 21) by submitting his joining letter at the Prime Minister's Office. He later confirmed the matter on his verified Facebook page.

In his Facebook post, Rashed Khan wrote, "Alhamdulillah, I have completed joining as the Prime Minister's Political Assistant with the rank of secretary. I seek everyone's prayers."

Earlier, on Sunday (July 19), his appointment was announced through a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Golam Rabbani on behalf of the President, stated that Rashed Khan had been appointed as the Prime Minister's Political Assistant with the rank of secretary on a contractual basis.

The notification further stated that he would serve for the duration of the Prime Minister's term or until the Prime Minister's satisfaction, whichever comes first, subject to his relinquishing any professional, business or employment ties with any government, semi-government, private institution or other entity.

It said other terms of the appointment would be determined through a contract, and the order was issued in the public interest.

After the publication of the appointment notification, Rashed Khan shared it on his Facebook page, writing, "Alhamdulillah, the Prime Minister has appointed me as his Political Assistant with the rank of secretary."
