National Citizen Party (NCP) organisational secretary Tarek Reza has claimed that former general secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad and political assistant to the Prime Minister Rashed Khan was a sworn associate of the Surya Sen Hall unit of Chhatra Shibir of Dhaka University (DU).

He made this claim in a post given on his own Facebook ID on Sunday (October 25) night.

In the post Tarek Reza has written that Rashed Khan was once a sworn associate of the Surya Sen Hall unit of Chhatra Shibir of Dhaka University. After becoming a candidate for the general secretary (GS) post in the Ducsu election, Chhatra Shibir had asked him to withdraw from the candidacy for another person. After that he left the organisation, claimed Tarek Reza.

He has further written that such a tendency among former Shibir leaders is not new.

Mentioning an incident in support of his claim, Tarek Reza has written that on the morning of the day the news of Abrar Fahad’s murder became known, leaders of Dhaka University Chhatra Odhikar Parishad phoned Rashed Khan and Nurul Haque Nur and informed them about giving a programme.

According to Tarek Reza’s version, Nurul Haque Nur was a bit suspicious at first. However, he said to take a decision after thinking and making inquiries. On the other hand, Rashed Khan raised objection regarding the programme.

This NCP leader has claimed that Rashed Khan had the apprehension that Abrar Fahad might be a member of Chhatra Shibir. In that case, he also thought that giving a programme in protest of his murder could cause harm.

Tarek Reza has further written that if the programme was declared without following his advice, Rashed Khan had phoned a leader of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad and said, “If you don’t listen to the words, there is no need for you to do Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, from tomorrow don’t come with us.”

However, according to Tarek Reza’s version, seeing the spontaneous participation of students in the programme, Rashed Khan later also appeared there.
