Recommendation for preparing correct list of martyrs, freedom fighters of 1971

The permanent committee related to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs of the 13th National Parliament has recommended preparing a report by formulating the correct list of the martyrs and the list of the real freedom fighters of the Great Liberation War of 1971. At the same time the recommendation of making the arrangement of taking the injured July fighters abroad for treatment phase by phase on priority basis has been made.

These recommendations were made at the second meeting of the committee held at the National Parliament Building on Monday (September 28). The meeting was presided over by the president of the committee and Member of Parliament of Cumilla-6 constituency Md Monirul Haque Chowdhury.

Detailed discussion was held at the meeting on the important activities of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs of the last six months and the progress of their implementation. At the same time the proceedings of the previous meeting were approved.

The committee has recommended the ministry to prepare a report by formulating the correct list of the martyrs of the Great Liberation War and the list of the real freedom fighters. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has been giving importance from before on using verifiable information including documentary documents, government and military records in preparing this type of list.

Besides the committee has recommended taking measures so that the real freedom fighters get the necessary facilities on priority basis through the Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust. At the same time the advice of remaining active of the concerned to properly present the correct history of the Liberation War and ensure the due honor of the freedom fighters and July fighters has been given.

Discussion was also held at the meeting on the matter of taking the necessary steps to keep the Freedom Fighters Parliament active. It has been said from the side of the committee that the Freedom Fighters Parliament can play an active role in national politics. At the same time importance has been given on properly preserving and presenting the history of the Liberation War.

Members of the committee and Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ahmed Azam Khan, State Minister Ishraque Hossain, Member of Parliament Md Abdul Hannan and Member of Parliament Rokeya Begum took part in the meeting. At this time the secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, senior officials of the July Mass Uprising Directorate, the concerned ministries and the National Parliament Secretariat were present.
