The government will recommend that the Attorney General seek an early hearing of the Ramisa rape and murder case in the higher court to ensure swift execution of the sentence, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said.
Speaking to journalists outside his office at the Secretariat on Sunday, June 7, the minister said the swift investigation, charge sheet and death sentence in the Ramisa murder case are a milestone in Bangladesh's history.
He said the matter would be brought to the Supreme Court's attention through the Attorney General to advance the hearing serial.
The minister also said police personnel would be rewarded for good work to boost their morale.
Regarding border security, the minister informed that a DG-level meeting between BGB and BSF will begin in New Delhi from Monday. Issues such as border killings and illegal infiltration will be discussed diplomatically to resolve problems.
On anti-drug and anti-gambling drives, he said legal reforms are being made to ensure criminals do not get bail through loopholes in the law.
