Record 56,259 SSC students see results changed after re-scrutiny

A record 56,259 students saw their results change after the re-scrutiny of this year’s SSC and equivalent examination results, marking the highest number of result revisions recorded by the country’s education boards.

The rescrutiny results for the 2026 SSC and equivalent examinations were published at 10am on Thursday (September 10), with the figures showing an unprecedented scale of changes across the boards.

Education board officials said no previous year had seen results changed for such a large number of students following rescrutiny.

Thousands of students had applied for their answer scripts to be reviewed after the publication of the main results, seeking corrections to marks they believed did not reflect their performance.

Following the review, marks were changed in a large number of answer scripts, affecting students’ final grades and, in many cases, their letter grades and GPAs.

Officials said the scale of this year’s changes was significantly higher than in previous years, giving many students a chance to improve their results after failing to receive their expected scores in the initial publication.
