Record education allocation aims to build skilled workforce: Education Minister
The government has emphasised increased investment in the education sector to transform Bangladesh’s large population into a skilled and productive workforce, according to Education and Primary Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan.
Speaking as the chief guest at a graduation dinner and cultural programme held at the Shaheed Yamin Auditorium of the Military Institute of Science and Technology in the capital’s Mirpur on Wednesday night (June 10), the minister highlighted that the education sector has received the highest-ever allocation, Tk 1,23,000 crore, in the current fiscal year, reflecting the government’s priority on human capital development and long-term economic growth.
He said greater investment in education is essential to equip the country’s vast population with skills needed for both domestic and global job markets, adding that education remains the most important driver of national progress.
According to him, the enhanced allocation will support improvements in quality education, expansion of technical and vocational training, and development of a more competitive and skilled workforce capable of meeting future challenges.
The minister stressed that Bangladesh’s demographic strength can only be fully realised if it is supported by sustained investment in education and skill development initiatives, enabling the population to become a productive economic asset rather than a development challenge.
