Red alert issued to arrest OC Shah Alam
The police have issued a red alert to arrest OC Shah Alam, who fled from Uttara East Police Station.
Police have also filed a case against him.
All units of the army, RAB and police are conducting a joint operation to arrest him.
Multiple sources at the police station said that Shah Alam, the accused in a murder case, was arrested and kept in the OC's room instead of being kept in the jail. Shah Alam escaped from the OC's room of Uttara East Police Station on Thursday.
When contacted on Friday (January 10), Uttara Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Rawnak Jahan declined to comment over the issue.
Sources said that all units of the army, RAB and police are working to capture the absconding OC Shah Alam. Information technology support is also being taken.
Uttara East Police arrested OC Shah Alam in a case related to the anti-discrimination student movement.
The process of handing him over to the court was underway on Thursday (January 9) afternoon. In the meantime, he managed to escape.
Shah Alam was wanted in several cases, including murder, in the coup.
He had earlier joined the Uttara East Police Station on August 1.
