Reform to law enforcement agencies will be done as per public expectations: Home Minister
Reform to various law enforcement agencies including the police will be done as per the public expectations, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
He said this at a view-exchange meeting with the heads of various departments and organizations under the Home Ministry at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The Home Minister said, 'After a long period of one and a half decades, a political government has been formed through a transparent election. The people have high expectations. We want to quickly implement the election manifesto to fulfill those expectations.'
'We are trying to bring democratic reforms in the police and other law enforcement agencies. It is very important to first determine the priorities of the reforms,' he added.
The Home Minister said that he wants to gain the trust of the people by restructuring the institutions under the Home Ministry and improving their ethics.
He also emphasized on the recruitment of new manpower and said that there is also the issue of budget allocation here. The goal can be achieved with the recruitment of new manpower and the coordinated efforts of everyone.
The minister directed the meeting to prepare suggestions and recommendations for the heads of various departments and organizations to formulate and implement necessary plans for the timely development of the police and other law enforcement agencies.
Home Secretary (Routine Responsibilities) Delwar Hossain, IGP Baharul Alam and other officials were present in the meeting.
