Restriction on entry to Secretariat still in place

Restriction on entry to the Secretariat is in place today (January 1) also.

Strict restrictions have been imposed on entry to the Secretariat since the horrific fire that broke out in Building No-7 on December 25 night. Even the journalists are restricted to enter the government’s administration hub.

The journalists, however, were allowed to enter in a limited manner from Monday afternoon, entry of other outsiders is still restricted. Officials and employees are entering the Secretariat on foot through gate no-5 as entry of all kinds of vehicles is restricted.

Building No-7 is still closed following the fire. The activities of the ministries located there are being conducted at various locations outside the Secretariat. Meanwhile, the inner courtyard of the Secretariat is empty as vehicles and visitors are barred from entering.

Officials and employees who came to the Secretariat are exchanging greetings with their colleagues on the occasion of the New Year. The female officials of the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry came to the office wearing similar saris, creating a special attraction.

Sources said the advisers to the interim government will exchange greetings with the officials and employees of their respective ministries after the meeting of the Advisory Council today.

Although the activities in the Secretariat slowed down after the fire, the New Year has brought forth new enthusiasm among the officials and employees of the Secretariat.
