Reviving SAARC a key foreign policy goal of PM: Foreign Minister
Revitalising the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is a key foreign policy priority of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman said on Saturday (April 18).
Speaking at a ministerial panel on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, the minister stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation through the revival of SAARC.
He also recalled the role of Ziaur Rahman in founding the bloc, noting that restoring its effectiveness remains a major priority for the current government.
The panel was joined by Ishaq Dar and Afghanistan’s transport minister Hamidullah Azizi.
Participants agreed that South Asia holds significant potential for cooperation, emphasising dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means to overcome existing barriers and enhance regional collaboration.
