Rizvi, Swapon pay tribute at Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia's graves

Newly appointed Prime Minister's Political Adviser Zahir Uddin Swapon and BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi paid tribute at the graves of former president Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia in Dhaka on Sunday (August 23).

They placed floral wreaths at the graves at Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 10am, accompanied by party leaders and activists.

After the tribute, prayers and a special munajat were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed leaders.

Speaking after the programme, Rizvi said he had known Swapon since their student days and described him as a politician committed to progressive and constructive politics.

He said Swapon had served as an elected representative several times through public mandate and expressed confidence that he would use his experience and capabilities to assist Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman in his new role.
