Prime Minister's Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has dismissed the demand for former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's return to the country as nothing more than 'grandstanding'. He has also urged Hasina to return and face the trial process.

Rizvi made the remarks at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, capital, on Tuesday, May 26.

"The demand for Sheikh Hasina's return is her characteristic rhetoric and political grandstanding. If she has any courage, she should admit her crimes, return to the country and face the law," Rizvi said.

Noting that people will be able to celebrate Eid in comfort this year due to the government's steps, Rizvi said the insecurity that previously existed during Eid journeys is no longer there. There is also little traffic congestion this Eid journey as the government remains active in tackling lawlessness on the roads.

The law and order situation is also much better than before centring Eid, he added. The current government has shown urgency in implementing the electoral manifesto in its first 100 days, and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will fulfil every promise made to the people in the future.

BNP Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, MP, and others were present.
