Ruckus in Parliament over Jamaat being called Razakars
Member of Parliament freedom fighter Md. Fazlur Rahman has sparked controversy by commenting in Parliament that no one from the freedom fighter family can form Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. He made this statement targeting the opposition leader and Jamaat Ameer.
Immediately after his comment, a ruckus broke out among the opposition members in Parliament. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram) intervened to calm the situation.
Amidst the ruckus, Fazlur Rahman repeated, "No one from the freedom fighter family can form Jamaat. If someone does, it is a double crime."
He also said that comparing the Liberation War with a short-term mass movement belittles the Liberation War. He also mentioned that he personally feels deep pain in such situations.
It is known that the Jamaat Ameer introduced himself as a freedom fighter and a member of a martyr's family during and after the 13th National Parliament elections.
