Independent MP Rumeen Farhana from Brahmanbaria-2, thanked BNP in parliament for not giving her party nomination in the 13th national elections.

She said that not getting the nomination made her realize how many people of the country (from Teknaf to Tentulia) were with her. If she had elected from within the party lines, she would not have had the fortune of this realization.

She said this while participating in the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the National Assembly on Tuesday (April 7). Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram presided over the tenth day of the first session of the 13th National Assembly.

Rumeen Farhana also raised the question of the balance of power between the President and the Prime Minister. She said that according to the constitution, except for appointing the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice, the President has to do almost everything in consultation with the Prime Minister. Despite the demand for a balance of power for a long time, the President gave a speech approved by the Cabinet this time too.

She questioned, what kind of balance is being talked about if the President cannot be given this much freedom.

Rumeen Farhana expressed gratitude to the leaders and activists who remained by her side even after being expelled from the party. She also remembered with deep respect former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who brought her into politics with affection.

She said, Begum Zia's shortcomings will never be filled in this parliament.
