The High Court has issued a rule asking why the repeated shown arrest of former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in multiple new cases should not be declared illegal.

The bench of Justice Rajik Al Jalil and Justice Debashis Roy Chowdhury passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by Ivy on Sunday (April 26).

The court also directed authorities not to harass or arrest Ivy in any new cases during this period.

Senior lawyer Sara Hossain and Advocate Motahar Hossain Saju represented Ivy during the hearing.

According to Advocate Saju, Ivy has already secured bail in 10 cases from the High Court, but she was subsequently shown arrested in two additional cases. The writ petition challenged the legality of repeatedly showing her arrested in new cases despite existing bail orders.

Most recently, Ivy was shown arrested in another murder case linked to the anti-discrimination student-public movement on April 13.

With this latest development, Ivy has now been shown arrested in a total of 12 cases.
