DUCSU Vice-President Sadik Kayem has issued a 48-hour ultimatum over three demands, including the arrest of those involved in the attack on Inqilab Mancha convener and potential Dhaka-8 independent candidate Sharif Osman Hadi, warning that failure to meet the demands will require the resignation of the home affairs, law and foreign affairs advisers.

Sadik Kayem made the remarks on Monday, December 15, while speaking to journalists after a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the ministry. The adviser was present at the time and appeared visibly uncomfortable.

Placing his three-point demand, Sadik Kayem said all direct attackers, planners and facilitators involved in the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi must be arrested, all state agencies including intelligence bodies must be brought under accountability, and those found negligent must be brought to justice. He also called for the complete social boycott of what he described as cultural fascists who justified or supported the attack.

In his second demand, he said a locality-based combing operation must be launched within the next 48 hours against the banned Awami League, all terrorists at every organisational level must be arrested, and all illegal arms recovered.

His final demand called for the extradition of Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh as the first step against Indian dominance and the execution of verdicts handed down against her for crimes against humanity. He also demanded a review of diplomatic relations with India until all accused individuals are returned.
