Salim Prodhan among 9 arrested for operating illegal liquor bar in Baridhara

Gulshan police have arrested nine people, including Salim Prodhan, for allegedly operating an unauthorized liquor bar in the capital’s Baridhara area.

They were arrested at around 4.00am on Saturday (September 6).

Regarding the matter, Gulshan Zone Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Al Amin Hossain said, "Salim Prodhan had long been operating an illegal liquor bar in Baridhara. In a pre-dawn raid, police arrested him along with eight others and seized liquor-making equipment."

"A drug case has been filed at Gulshan Police Station over the incident," he added.

Salim Prodhan, identified as the mastermind behind an illegal online casino business, was arrested in October 2019 while attempting to flee abroad. At the time, RAB raided his Gulshan office and Banani residence, seizing foreign liquor, crores of taka in foreign currency, multiple passports, cheques, and an online gambling server. He was later released on bail.
