Salman, Anisul shown arrested in new case

Salman F Rahman, former adviser to ex-prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and Anisul Huq, former law minister, along with two others have been shown arrested in a murder case filed over the killing of Mahfuzur Rahman under Mirpur police station during the July uprising.

On September 22, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Mia ordered the arrests in the new case following a police petition.

The other accused are Atiqul Islam, former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, and Jasim Uddin Mollah, president of Awami League’s Kafrul unit.

On the day, Sub-Inspector Md Tariqul Islam of Mirpur Model Police Station produced the accused in court from jail and sought to show them arrested in the case. Public Prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruqui argued in favour of the petition.
