A petition has been filed seeking the confiscation of movable and immovable assets of 11 people, including late actor Salman Shah's former wife Samira Huq, in connection with the murder case filed over his death.

The petition was submitted by plaintiff's lawyer Faruk Ahmed to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana on Tuesday.

After holding a hearing on the plea, the court kept the matter pending for an order.

According to the petition, the case has remained pending for nearly 29 years, and none of the accused named in the first information report (FIR) has appeared before the court so far. To ensure the arrest of the accused and uphold justice, the petition sought an advance confiscation order on all movable and immovable properties of the accused.

Plaintiff's lawyer Faruk Ahmed said, "The accused were staying in the country but were not being arrested. To move the case forward, we applied for the confiscation of their movable and immovable assets. The court said it would pass an order after reviewing the records."

Earlier, on 20 October, Mohammad Alamgir Kumkum, brother of Salman Shah's mother Neela Chowdhury, filed the case on her behalf. Subsequently, the court accepted the FIR and directed Inspector Atikul Islam Khandaker of Ramna Model Police Station to submit a report by 7 December last year.

Apart from Samira Huq, the other accused include her mother Latifa Huq Lucy, businessman Aziz Mohammad, Latifa Huq Lucy, actor Don, Debit, Javed, Faruk, Ruby, A Sattar, Saju and Rezvi Ahmed alias Farhad.

According to the case statement, Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Imon, popularly known as Salman Shah, was a renowned Bangladeshi film actor. On the morning of 6 September 1996, around 9:30am, his parents, Neela Chowdhury and Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, along with his younger brother Shahraan Shah, went to his New Eskaton residence. They had planned to travel to Sylhet together.

Upon arrival, Samira and house help Abdul informed them that Salman was sleeping. Film producer Siddique had also come to meet the actor, but was told the same. Salman's parents later left the residence, planning to meet him again on their way to Sylhet.

At around 11:30am, production manager Selim called Salman Shah's father and informed him that something had happened. The family rushed back to the house and found Salman lying in his bedroom.

The complaint alleges that a few outsider women were massaging his hands and feet, while a woman named Ruby was sitting nearby. Samira asked Salman's mother to leave the house. While taking him to Holy Family Hospital, the parents noticed marks of a rope around his neck and bruises on his face and legs. He was later rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
