Salman Shah murder probe report submission deferred to Sept 29

The submission of the investigation report in the murder case of popular film actor Salman Shah has been deferred again.

A Dhaka court fixed September 29 as the new deadline as CID Inspector Ziaul Morshed, the investigation officer in the case, failed to submit it within the stipulated time..

The report was scheduled to be submitted on Sunday (August 30).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jewel Rana subsequently set the new date, granting the investigation officer a ninth extension to submit the report, according to Shah Alam, a sub-inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police prosecution division.

The case was filed at Ramna Police Station on October 21, 2025, with Mohammad Alamgir Kumkum, maternal uncle of Salman Shah, as the complainant on behalf of the actor’s mother, Neela Chowdhury.

The court later accepted the case and directed the investigating officer to submit a report.

The case names 11 people as accused, including Salman Shah’s former wife Samira Haque, her mother Latifa Haque Lusi, businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, actor Don, David, Javed, Faruk, Ruby, Abdul Sattar, Saju and Rijvi Ahmed alias Farhad.

According to the case statement, Salman Shah, whose real name was Chowdhury Mohammad Shahriar Emon, was found unconscious at his residence in New Eskaton, Dhaka, on September 6, 1996. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

His death has remained the subject of longstanding controversy and questions, with different accounts surrounding the circumstances of his death.

The repeated postponement of the investigation report is further delaying the legal proceedings in the case.
