Saudi youth commits suicide after shooting Bangladeshi dead in Taif

Kamrul Zaman, a Bangladeshi expatriate, was shot dead in the Saudi Arabian city of Taif. Immediately after the killing, the Saudi youth who attacked him shot himself in the head and committed suicide.

The incident took place in the Hawayya area of Taif around 4am on Sunday (August 30). Kamrul Zaman was from Kutubpur village under Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. He is the son of Khorshed Alam. He went to Saudi Arabia nearly two and a half years ago in search of livelihood, leaving behind his wife and two children in the country.

According to local sources, Kamrul was talking on the phone with his family on his way home after finishing duty at a supermarket. Suddenly the Saudi youth opened fire targeting him. To save his life, Kamrul ran inside his workplace, but the attacker chased him in and shot him three times in succession. Two other workers present at the scene fled in panic.

Right after the murder, the attacker shot himself in the head and committed suicide. The deceased’s brother-in-law Ekramul Haque confirmed the incident. The reason behind the killing remains unclear.
