Saw clotted blood coming from Nur's nose: Rashed Khan
Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan has expressed serious concern over the health condition of the party’s President, Nurul Haque Nur, following last week’s alleged assault by law enforcement.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rashed Khan described Nur’s current condition as critical. "When I visited VP Nur this morning, I saw clotted blood coming from his nose in front of me. Several doctors, including the Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, were present," he said.
Nur and Rashed Khan were both injured last Friday during what the party claims was a violent crackdown by law enforcement. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders and civil society. Gono Odhikar Parishad's chief adviser, Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has recommended that Nur be sent abroad for advanced treatment.
While it remains unconfirmed when Nur will be transferred abroad, party sources indicate that Singapore or Thailand are being considered as possible destinations.
Describing Nur’s ongoing symptoms, Rashed Khan stated, "he is not on the path to recovery, as some reports suggest. He still suffers from gum pain, blood clots under his eyes, and dizziness that causes him to fall when attempting to walk."
He further revealed; "Nur’s nasal bone is completely fractured, causing a visible deformity. His brain function appears impaired, and he is unable to sit or lie down steadily. He is fully traumatized."
Doctors at Dhaka Medical are reportedly monitoring his condition closely and have documented recent symptoms, including nasal bleeding.
