Say whatever you want, I won't mince words: Mirza Abbas

BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas said that it is becoming difficult to remain patient with the way the propaganda is being carried out against BNP. Pointing to the leaders and activists of NCP and Jamaat, he said that they are facing various obstacles even in the elections.

He said this at a discussion meeting at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (January 20). BNP organized this discussion meeting on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of late President Ziaur Rahman.

Mirza Abbas said, 'I want to say something from my heart today. Today is the first, today is the last. Say whatever you want, I won't mince words. I won't make a sound by hanging a signboard around my neck. My addresses are in Dhaka and Shahjahanpur. I am not an addressless person.’ He said that he is a responsible political activist and will work till the last moment of his life to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country, but the country will not be handed over to any cheater, fraudster or evil force.

Addressing the NCP leaders, the former minister said, ‘They call themselves fighters, but we are freedom fighters. We liberated the country. Did you liberate the country? You expelled an evil force—I admit that. But we also brought down dictatorships like Ershad and Hasina in our time.’

He said that after the Liberation War, BNP leaders and activists went back to their work, did not greed for power. They went back to educational institutions and studied.

Addressing the current generation of politicians, he said, ‘What is there to be so greedy about? You are young, learn politics. Do politics slowly, improve the country. We want you to do politics, but if you commit a crime, you will have to answer for it.’

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Selima Rahman, Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu and Chairman's Adviser Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, along with other top party leaders, also spoke at the discussion meeting.
