The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has scheduled June 1 for delivering its verdict on Jamaat-e-Islami's appeal against the High Court's ruling that annulled the party's registration with the Election Commission (EC).

The four-member bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, set the date after completing the hearing of the appeal on Wednesday.

The High Court had canceled Jamaat's registration with the EC on August 1, 2013, following a writ petition filed by Syed Rezaul Haque Chandpuri, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Tariqat Federation, and 24 others on January 25, 2009.

The EC formally revoked Jamaat's registration in October 2018, ahead of the 11th national elections.

Jamaat challenged the High Court's decision by filing an appeal with the Appellate Division, which began hearing the case on December 3, 2024.

During today's hearing, Barrister Ehsan A. Siddiq and Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir represented Jamaat, while Advocate Touhidul Islam appeared on behalf of the EC.
