School holds special monsoon song class to protest teacher trolling
In protest against the controversy that erupted on social media over teacher Beauty Rani Pal, a special class on monsoon songs and poetry has been arranged at Savar Cantonment Public School and College. The initiative aims to highlight the positive aspects of mindfulness, literary-cultural practice and dignified protest among students.
A special class titled 'Monsoon Songs and Poetry' has been added to the teaching schedule for Wednesday (July 29). The school authorities said the initiative was taken to encourage students to engage in cultural practice and to send a positive message through creative expression.
School teacher Nahida Shafinaz said students have been asked to learn monsoon songs and prepare recitations of popular poems on the monsoon, either their own compositions or works by renowned poets, to present in the classroom.
Recently, a reel video of Beauty Rani Pal, head teacher of Pithaitikar Government Primary School in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet, went viral on social media. She faced widespread online trolling over the video, which featured her in a blue sari performing to the song 'Shraboner Megher Gulo'.
In protest, teachers from different parts of the country expressed solidarity on social media by using the same song. Continuing from that, the latest initiative aims to promote creativity, cultural practice and the positive message of freedom of expression among students through songs, poetry and literary activities in the classroom.
