The Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (SHED) has directed educational institutions to observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day on next Saturday (November 7) even though there will be a government holiday on that day. Special discussion programmes and essay competitions highlighting the significance of the day will have to be organized on this day. National flags will also have to be hoisted.

This directive was given in a letter signed by Assistant Director (General Administration) of the Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (SHED) Md Rezaul Karim on Tuesday (November 3).

The letter said the government-determined programmes have to be observed on the occasion of the celebration of National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7. As part of this, a request has been made under order to organize special discussion programmes and essay competitions with students highlighting the significance of the day in educational institutions.

Besides, directives have been given in a separate letter to hoist national flags in educational institutions on the occasion of the day.

Earlier, the government issued a gazette declaring a government holiday on November 7 on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day. However, as the day falls on Saturday this time, government employees are not getting any additional holiday.

As there are programmes to observe the day in educational institutions even on the government holiday, the concerned teachers and students will have to take part in these arrangements.
