Second day of Eid advance train ticket sales begins

Advance ticket sales for train travel ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr entered their second day on Wednesday (March 4).

Online sales began at 8:00am for all intercity trains operating in the western region. Tickets for intercity trains in the eastern region will go on sale from 2:00pm.

Tickets for March 14 travel are being made available today under a special arrangement.

As in previous years, Bangladesh Railway is selling advance tickets for intercity trains seven days ahead of departure, with 100 per cent of tickets available online to facilitate passenger convenience.

The decisions were finalised at a preparatory meeting on special Eid train services held recently at Rail Bhaban in the capital.

According to the schedule set by Bangladesh Railway, tickets for March 13 were sold on March 3. Tickets for March 15 will be available on March 5; March 16 tickets on March 6; March 17 tickets on March 7; March 18 tickets on March 8; and March 19 tickets on March 9.

Authorities also said tickets for March 20, 21 and 22 will be sold subject to the sighting of the moon, which determines the date of Eid.

In response to passenger demand, 25 per cent of non-AC coach tickets will be issued as standing tickets at originating stations prior to departure.

Each passenger will be allowed to purchase advance Eid tickets only once, with a maximum of four seats per transaction. No refunds will be permitted for Eid advance tickets.
