Security tightened in Dhaka ahead of Osman Hadi’s janaza
Security has been tightened across Dhaka ahead of the janaza of Shaheed Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha.
To maintain law and order and ensure public safety, 20 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed near the National Parliament and other key areas. Additionally, around 1,000 body-worn cameras have been used to monitor the situation.
Officers are equipped with the body-worn cameras, and riot control gear has been kept on standby. BGB is coordinating closely with other law enforcement agencies.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has also deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order situation during the funeral prayers.
Authorities said they are on high alert to ensure the janaza and subsequent programmes proceed peacefully. Traffic management has been strengthened to maintain smooth movement and public safety.
Hadi was critically injured in a shooting in Bijoynagar of Dhaka, on December 12. Despite being flown to Singapore for advanced treatment, he succumbed to his injuries on the night of December 18. His body was brought back to Dhaka Friday night, and he is scheduled to be buried today.
