Selimuzzaman Selim emerges as key contender in cabinet discussions
BNP is busy with the process of forming the new government after securing a single-party majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. Amidst this, discussions have begun in political circles regarding the possibility of appointing the party's National Executive Committee Joint Organising Secretary Selimuzzaman Selim as State Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
According to party sources, preliminary reviews regarding the structure of the likely cabinet are underway at the top level. In those discussions, Selimuzzaman Selim's name has come under serious consideration for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
With the implementation of BNP's announced 31-point work plan in view, the party is prioritising democratic reforms of the constitution and state system and economic emancipation. To achieve this goal, there are also plans to make the information and broadcasting sector more modern, effective and people-oriented.
Within party circles, it is also heard that the Acting Chairman is inclined to see Selimuzzaman Selim in this ministry. However, the final decision will come after approval from the party forum.
Elected from the Gopalganj-1 constituency, Selimuzzaman Selim received 71,579 votes according to unofficial results. Those concerned believe the matter will become clear once the new cabinet is announced.
