Senior journalist Nurul Hasan Khan passes away

Senior journalist and founding member of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Nurul Hasan Khan, has passed away. He had been suffering from terminal cancer for a long time. Prior to this, he was also undergoing treatment in the ICU at Lakeridge Health Hospital in Ontario, Canada, due to serious illness.

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Delta Hospital in Dhaka on Sunday (August 16).

Nurul Hasan Khan had worked in the country's journalism arena for a long time. He was closely associated with the founding phase of the Dhaka Reporters Unity and played an important role in professional journalistic organization as a permanent member. DRU was established in 1995 and currently has nearly two thousand journalist members.

Alongside journalism, Nurul Hasan Khan professionally fulfilled his duties on various crucial national issues over the years. In 2021, his name was included in a joint statement issued by 2,582 journalists demanding advanced medical treatment for Khaleda Zia, where he was referred to as a senior journalist.

His death has cast a shadow of mourning across the journalist community. Colleagues and well-wishers have prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.
